This afternoon (14 March) the Kopetdag district court of the Turkmen capital Ashgabad ruled once again that the house used as the city’s Pentecostal church should be confiscated without compensation, Pastor Viktor Makrousov - who owns the house - told Keston News Service by telephone from Ashgabad. The hearing had been postponed from 1 March (see KNS 1 March 2001). A number of diplomats from different countries attended the hearing. Pastor Makrousov will appeal against the decision, which he said was based on unfounded allegations, in the city court. (END)
